About color inversion
Each red, green, and blue channel is reversed: black becomes white, white becomes black, and other colors become their RGB opposites. Transparency stays unchanged. This creates a digital negative effect; it is not a calibrated film-negative restoration tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I invert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF files are decoded locally when your browser cannot open them directly. The primary image is inverted and exported as PNG. Unusual codecs or damaged files may not decode.
Which image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, AVIF, and JPEG XL are supported, plus GIF, BMP, and ICO when the browser can decode them. Animated and multi-image files produce one still image. Camera RAW development and HDR preservation are not supported.
Does inversion change image quality or transparency?
The tool works on decoded 8-bit RGB pixels, keeps their dimensions and alpha channel, and saves a lossless PNG. Color profiles, HDR data, animation, and original metadata are not preserved. Fully transparent pixel colors may be normalized by the browser.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Local images are decoded and inverted on your device. Additional image decoders are downloaded only when needed.
