How to flip an image online

Horizontal vs. vertical flip

A horizontal flip reverses the left and right sides, creating a mirror image. A vertical flip reverses the top and bottom, turning the image upside down. Both together are equivalent to a 180° rotation. These controls work from the original decoded image, so changing direction never stacks unwanted edits.

Can I flip HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Yes. HEIC and HEIF photos are decoded locally when your browser cannot open them directly. The primary image is flipped and exported as PNG. Unusual codecs or damaged files may not decode.

Which image formats can I flip?

PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, AVIF, and JPEG XL are supported, plus GIF, BMP, and ICO when the browser can decode them. Animated and multi-image files produce one still image. Camera RAW development and HDR preservation are not supported.

Does flipping reduce image quality?

The tool rearranges decoded 8-bit RGB pixels without resizing them and saves a lossless PNG with transparency. Color profiles, HDR data, animation, and original metadata are not preserved. Fully transparent pixel colors may be normalized by the browser.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Local images are decoded and flipped on your device. Additional image decoders are downloaded only when needed.
