What’s hiding in your file?
Metadata is information saved inside a file. See a photo’s camera settings and GPS location, or a PDF’s title, author, creator, producer, page count, and saved dates. Available details depend on the file.
Why are some details missing?
Not every photo saves every detail. Messaging apps and social networks often remove metadata. Try the original file. A deeper metadata scan runs automatically after the initial results. Missing GPS data does not mean a photo contains no other identifying information.
Does this upload my file?
No. Local files are processed in your browser, including the full ExifTool scan. Pasted links fetch the remote file directly first and use proxy.cors.sh if needed. Photos with GPS load a location map from OpenStreetMap.
What else can I inspect?
