Flattening Result
WaitingRendered Fallback Available
The structural rewrite could not finish. A fully rendered PDF can preserve the visible pages while removing interactive content and searchable text.
Compatibility And Safety Notes
Flattening reduces interactive PDF behavior but is not a malware guarantee.
Any existing digital signature becomes invalid when PDF bytes are rewritten.

No previewWhat PDF Flattening Removes
A structural PDF flatten combines form appearances with page content, removes active JavaScript and launch actions, deletes embedded attachments and multimedia, and optionally removes clickable links and metadata. It is useful when a document opens inconsistently, contains unwanted actions, or needs a simpler compatibility-focused copy.
The normal mode keeps text searchable and preserves vector graphics wherever possible. Fully rendered mode rebuilds every page from pixels, which removes hidden interactive structures more completely but also removes selectable text and accessibility information.
PDF Flattener Questions
Are PDFs uploaded?
No. Local files are read and rewritten by code running in this browser. The tool has no PDF upload or remote URL feature.
Does flattening remove PDF JavaScript?
Yes. The structural sanitizer removes document, page, annotation, and form actions, including JavaScript, launch, submission, import, and remote-file actions.
Will text remain searchable?
Text normally remains searchable in structural mode. Selecting fully rendered pages converts each page to an image and removes searchable text.
Can it flatten password-protected PDFs?
Yes, when the correct password is supplied. The password remains in memory only for the current browser run and is never uploaded or stored.
Does this guarantee a PDF is safe?
No. It removes common active and embedded features and validates the rewritten document, but no browser tool can guarantee that every malicious construction has been eliminated.
